In accordance with the energy optimization strategy and search for more environmentally friendly solutions, Viver Santarém replaced the boiler and installed thermal blankets on the water levels of the Municipal Aquatic Complex.
The placement of thermal blankets on the water surfaces and the replacement of the boiler for heating the air, the water in the swimming pools and the heating of the hot sanitary water, allowed for reductions of around 42 percent in the consumption of natural gas in this sports facility, which is equivalent to a reduction of approximately 90 tons of CO2 per year.
These two Rational Energy Use Measures already implemented are part of the set of measures identified by the Strategic Energy Transition and Sustainability Plan, developed by Viver Santarém, which will be implemented during the years 2025 and 2026.
With these actions, the aim is not only to reduce the ecological footprint, but also to generate significant savings in the medium and long term, ensuring greater financial and operational sustainability.
These investments will profoundly change the consumption profile of sports facilities, allowing a significant reduction in costs, with visible impacts in the coming years. Furthermore, they will contribute to achieving carbon neutrality and strengthening the municipality's environmental sustainability, promoting a more efficient and responsible management model for energy resources.
