Activities and Programs

VIVA MAIS

The Viva Mais project aims to promote the regular practice of physical activity, sports and the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits, complemented by the organization of fun, occupational and recreational activities.

This program is aimed at individual residents of the municipality of Santarém aged 50 or over, as well as people under the age of 50 who have a diagnosed incapacitating illness, on presentation of a medical certificate or declaration of invalidity. It also covers all users of the Day Care Centers in the Santarém municipality's solidarity network.

Viva Mais offers regular physical activity to a growing number of senior users, with the program being integrated into all 18 parishes in the municipality and fourteen different Day Care Centers. This focus on proximity is essential for overcoming one of the biggest obstacles preventing this population group from taking up sport: mobility.

In fact, the monitors responsible for the various physical activities hold the sessions in locations that allow participants to overcome difficulties in getting around.

In the Day Care Centers, this practice is ensured in person, guaranteeing continuous proximity.

The Viva Mais program currently has 733 registered users, spread across 18 parish councils and 14 Day Care Centers.

Mission
