XI Meeting of Xira – Vila Franca de Xira

Viver Santarém was present at the 11th Xira Meeting, held on May 9th and 10th in Vila Franca de Xira.
The team consisted of Lara Januário, Maria Carolina, Maria Amélia, Maria Eduarda, Francisco Dias, and Guilherme Conceição, accompanied by coach Rúben Linhares, delegate Filipe Torres, and intern Diogo Dias.
Throughout the competition, the swimmers achieved personal bests in all events, reflecting a 100% improvement rate. In total, 8 personal records were broken and 5 finals were reached, demonstrating, once again, the swimmers' progress and the excellent work done by the training group.
In the team classification, Viver Santarém finished in 29th position out of 44 participating teams.
Also noteworthy is swimmer Maria Amélia who, in the 100-meter freestyle, competed in a swim-off after a tie in the heats. This situation forced a decisive race, head-to-head with another swimmer, to secure a place in the final. Motivated by the challenge, Maria Amélia won the swim-off and deservedly secured her spot in the final.
Congratulations to all the swimmers and the coaching staff for the excellent performance demonstrated throughout the competition.
